The Forward Observer

The Forward Observer is a Multi-Function Hand-Held Camera and Monitoring System. The Forward Observer consists of a central monitoring station equipped with a 17-inch LCD display and eight wireless cameras, giving the scene commander total control of operations of a seven-person entry team or multiple hazmat or rescue personnel.

Eight wireless cameras with an operational range of approximately 750 feet (line of sight) in their own charging station allow the cameras to be ready to go on a moment’s notice. The rugged multi-channel hand-held cameras give each operator an individual video signature that can be referenced by any other team member or by the central command module. The cameras have an embedded IR infrared sensor which will automatically switch from day to night observation conditions allowing an operator to peer into total darkness without being seen by a subject.

This totally covert observation protects the operator from fire directed at flashlights and allows rescuers to look into small concealed spaces while illuminating the total area with IR light. The cameras are designed to be hand carried, tripod mounted, mounted to a weapon or clamped to an object for visual support of an operation. Cameras can be rigged with rope to drop into areas hidden from view.

Eight wireless wrist monitors give the operator the ability to display images picked up by their individual cameras or to select an image from any camera in the area. This provides defined intelligence to each member of a team without the need to communicate verbally. When cameras are set up on tripods or clamps, the operator can obtain “cover” information to protect the team from attack from the flank or rear.

Large 3-inch monitors display clear concise images for immediate action. A single operator using the extension pole can broadcast the image from above or behind a wall to all team members giving precise positions of any potential threat. All packaged in a unique multi-charge case, the cameras are ready to go at a moment’s notice.

The command control station has the ability to be programmed to “motion-sensitive” mode that will trigger the individual camera if anyone crosses its line of sight immediately warning the operator of a potential threat. The screen can also be viewed in a quad grid layout showcasing 4 different locations or operators simultaneously. Deployable in minutes, the entire Forward Observer system is ideal for real time response to hostage or rapidly evolving situations.

The Forward Observer Features:

The Forward Observer supports surveillance teams dealing with terrorist threats, narcotics intervention and a host of other activities by providing rapid video coverage of complex geographical areas prior to entry or assault and real-time coverage of operations as they unfold.

The Forward Observer’s ability to see over, around or under obstructions or cover gives the operator a significant advantage over an adversary that may use natural cover or darkness to conceal their activities.
